Privacy Statement

Privacy Statement

Applies to: all 6 EP Journals Group journals and the EP Journals Group publisher website.
Effective: 1 May 2026, version 1.0.

This statement describes what personal information we collect when you interact with Journal of Management Research and Review and the EP Journals Group website, what we do with it, and how to ask us to change or remove it. It is written in plain English and reflects how we actually operate.

What we collect and why

When you submit a manuscript. We collect the corresponding author's name, institutional affiliation, email address, ORCID iD (if provided), and the manuscript file with whatever personal information the file contains. We collect the same information for all listed authors. We use this to manage the editorial process, contact authors, register article metadata with Crossref, and assign CC BY 4.0 license terms. After publication, the corresponding author's email is published on the article page and in CrossRef metadata.

When you register as a reviewer. We collect your name, email, institutional affiliation, ORCID iD, and a list of subject areas in which you are willing to review. We use this to invite you to review submissions in your area. We do not publish reviewer identities (the journal uses double-blind review).

When you read articles. We collect the standard web logs that any web server collects: IP address, browser type, time of visit, pages requested. We use this to understand usage volume and to detect technical problems. We do not link these logs to identifiable users unless you have logged into the journal as an author, reviewer, or editor.

When you sign up for the journal's announcement mailing list. We collect your email address. We use it to send announcements about new issues, calls for papers, and editorial updates. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link at the bottom of every email.

Cookies. The journal site sets a small number of cookies, all of them functional: a session cookie when you log in, a preferences cookie for language selection, and an OJS-internal cookie for the editorial workflow. We do not set marketing cookies. We do not embed third-party tracking pixels.

What we do not collect

We do not collect: payment card details (the APC payment process is handled by a third-party payment processor whose privacy policy applies to that step), social media browsing data, advertising identifiers, location data beyond what an IP address implies, or any data category requiring special protection under GDPR Article 9 (race, ethnicity, political opinions, religious beliefs, health data, etc.) unless it appears in a manuscript an author has chosen to submit.

Who has access

The OJS workflow gives access to:

  • The corresponding author and co-authors of a submission (their own manuscript record, throughout the process).
  • The Section Editor and Editor-in-Chief assigned to the submission (the manuscript and reviewer reports).
  • Invited reviewers (the anonymized manuscript file plus their own review history).
  • The editorial office (full record, for administrative purposes).

EP Journals Group staff with administrative roles have access to journal records as needed for operational purposes (DOI registration, preservation deposits, statistics reporting). They are bound by editorial confidentiality.

We do not sell or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third parties involved in journal operations

We share specific data with specific third parties for specific operational reasons:

  • Crossref: article metadata at DOI registration. This includes author names, ORCID iDs, affiliations, and the corresponding author's email. Crossref's privacy policy is at crossref.org/privacy.
  • Zenodo: article PDFs and metadata for preservation deposit. Zenodo is operated by CERN.
  • PKP|PN: issue-level content for distributed preservation.
  • iThenticate (Crossref Similarity Check): manuscript text for plagiarism screening at desk-screening. Manuscripts are uploaded for the screen, retained briefly for the report, and not used for any other purpose by iThenticate.
  • Payment processor: corresponding author email and invoice details when an APC is invoiced. The payment processor handles card data; we do not see card numbers.
  • Email delivery: announcement emails go through a transactional email service. The service stores the email address only for delivery purposes.

We do not use Google Analytics or equivalent third-party analytics services.

Your rights

You can:

  • ask us what personal data we hold about you,
  • ask us to correct inaccurate data,
  • ask us to delete data we hold (with the exception of published article metadata, which is part of the scholarly record and cannot be retroactively removed without retraction),
  • ask us not to send you mailing-list emails (unsubscribe link is in every email),
  • ask us to export the data we hold about you in a portable format.

Send any of these requests to privacy@ep-journals.org. We respond within 30 days.

The right to erasure does not extend to published articles. Once an article is published with its CC BY 4.0 license and CrossRef DOI, the metadata (including the author list) becomes part of the permanent scholarly record. Retraction and correction notices can be issued where appropriate, but the original record persists.

Where data is stored

Journal records are stored on servers located in [hosting region — to confirm with EP Journals Group hosting]. Crossref deposits are stored on Crossref's infrastructure (US, UK). Zenodo deposits are stored at CERN (Switzerland). PKP|PN deposits are distributed across participating member libraries.

Updates to this statement

This statement is reviewed annually and updated when our practice changes. Updates are announced on the journal homepage. Material changes that affect what we do with personal data are announced 30 days before they take effect, and existing users are emailed if their data is affected.

Effective: 1 May 2026 (v1.0).
