Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The Journal of Management Research and Review (JMRR) is deeply committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical integrity and professional conduct throughout the publication process. This Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement outlines the responsibilities and expected standards for all parties involved — authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers — in accordance with internationally recognized guidelines such as those from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure their submitted manuscripts represent original work that has not been published elsewhere or concurrently submitted to another journal. Any use of others’ work, ideas, or data must be clearly cited and attributed to prevent plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or data fabrication.

  • Accurate Reporting: Research must be presented honestly and accurately, including methodology, data, analysis, and results. Fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of data is strictly prohibited.

  • Authorship: Only those who have made significant intellectual contributions should be listed as authors. All authors must approve the final manuscript and accept responsibility for the content.

  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could be perceived as potential conflicts of interest.

  • Ethical Compliance: Research involving humans, animals, or sensitive data should comply with relevant ethical guidelines and approval. Any necessary ethical approvals must be clearly stated.

  • Multiple or Redundant Publication: Duplicate publication or simultaneous submissions to multiple journals are not allowed.

  • Corrections and Retractions: Authors are obliged to promptly notify the journal if significant errors or inaccuracies are identified post-publication, cooperating fully with editorial efforts for correction or retraction.

Responsibilities of Editors

  • Fair and Objective Decision-Making: Manuscripts are evaluated solely on academic merit, originality, and relevance without regard to personal characteristics or affiliations of authors.

  • Confidentiality: Editors maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and ensure the privacy of unpublished information.

  • Ethical Oversight: Editors actively check for ethical issues, including plagiarism and publication misconduct. They follow due process in investigating allegations and take appropriate corrective action, including corrections or retractions.

  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where a conflict exists.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality and Impartiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential and conduct evaluations objectively and independently.

  • Constructive Feedback: Reviews should be professional, unbiased, and aimed at improving manuscript quality.

  • Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant uncited work and alert editors to potential ethical concerns like plagiarism or data manipulation.

  • Disclosure of Conflicts: Reviewers must decline assignments where conflicts of interest exist.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

  • Integrity of the Scholarly Record: The publisher supports editorial independence, ensures transparent handling of ethical matters, and preserves the permanence and accessibility of published works.

  • Addressing Misconduct: Promptly investigates alleged misconduct and implements corrective actions as appropriate.

Handling Misconduct

JMRR enforces a zero-tolerance policy for unethical practices including plagiarism, data fabrication, redundant publication, and authorship fraud. Upon suspicion or detection of misconduct, the journal will:

  • Notify authors and seek explanations.

  • Reject, retract, or correct work as necessary.

  • Inform institutional bodies or funding agencies when warranted.

Inclusivity and Non-Discrimination

The journal fosters an inclusive and respectful publishing environment, free from discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or any other personal attribute.

By submitting to JMRR, authors, reviewers, and editors agree to adhere strictly to these ethical standards to support the credibility, reliability, and global reputation of the journal and the wider management research community.
