What Is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism involves presenting another person’s words, ideas, data, or creative work as one’s own, without appropriate acknowledgment. This includes:

  • Direct Plagiarism: Copying text, tables, figures, or data from any source, including one’s previous publications, without full citation.

  • Paraphrased Plagiarism: Rewording someone else’s ideas or findings without crediting the original source.

  • Self-Plagiarism: Republishing significant parts of one’s own previously published material without disclosure or permission.

  • Mosaic Plagiarism: Mixing phrases, data, or ideas from multiple sources as if original.

  • Data or Image Plagiarism: Using tables, images, or datasets from prior work without clear permission or reference.

Plagiarism Detection and Screening

  • Every manuscript submitted to JMRR is screened using robust plagiarism detection software before moving to peer review.

  • The editorial team assesses the similarity report and reviews questionable overlaps or significant reused material.

  • Submissions with a similarity index above 15%, or those containing unattributed passages, may be returned to authors for correction or rejected outright.

Author Responsibilities

  • Authors must ensure their submissions are entirely original and all sources are properly cited.

  • If content (text, figures, data, or ideas) from prior publications is reused, it must be clearly acknowledged and referenced according to academic standards.

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to check manuscripts for accidental plagiarism before submission.

Editorial Actions on Plagiarism

JMRR operates a zero-tolerance policy. If plagiarism is found at any stage, the journal will:

  • Inform all authors of the detected issue and request an explanation.

  • Reject the submission or retract a published article, depending on when the problem is identified.

  • Notify the authors’ institution or funder in severe or repeated cases.

Guidance and Preventive Measures

  • Authors unfamiliar with proper citation or paraphrasing can consult the editorial office or refer to recognized academic style guides.

  • The editorial team provides feedback to help authors improve citation practices and avoid unintentional plagiarism.

By submitting a manuscript to JMRR, authors confirm that their work is original and complies with this plagiarism policy. This protects the scholarly record, upholds journal standards, and ensures fair academic recognition.
